A rescission is a consumer's right to cancel a timeshare contract within a state-mandated time frame, without consequence.
The state-mandated rescission period is typically only 3 to 14 days. Check your contract for the exact window — it varies by state.
Search your contract for the cancellation section to find how many days you have left to rescind. This section will also instruct you on where to mail your rescission letter.
Use a sample rescission letter for reference. Be sure to include your full name, address, the contract number, and your request for a refund.
Mail the letter according to the contract's instructions via certified mail so you receive a mail receipt proving it was delivered to the resort.
Approximately 48 hours after mailing, contact the resort to confirm your letter has been received by the correct party and is being processed.
If your rescission period has already passed, you're not out of options — you're just past the fastest one. With Corporate Counsel Review of your case, we handle full divestment cases for owners who are well outside their rescission window, typically resolving in 8 to 24 months.
